Paintings of Pets
Annette & JoJo, 36X30 inches, 2009
I really enjoyed painting this because I think I successfully captured both Annette and her dog JoJo and also because it was painted as a surprise birthday gift for Annette’s husband. She hung it in his office and said later, “My husband is completely in love with this portrait. It is unbelieveable – out of this world. I don’t know where you are when you’re painting but you’re not in this world. You really made his birthday. You are a genius. It’s unbelievable.”
Brownie, 16x20 inches, 2008
I often do portraits as a donation to charity and this was one I donated to a live auction to benefit a dance program at Concord Academy. I’ve made similar donated portraits as fundraisers to both the Museum of Fine Arts and Montserrat College of Art.
Dog Stationery
I decided to reproduce my dog portraits and offer them as a collection of museum-quality gift cards because it was a more accessible way to share my art so everybody could enjoy it. Some people have even framed these little cards because they adored them.
Koi Stationery
This is a collection of water-themed paintings that I have reproduced as a boxed set of museum-quality gift cards. It is a sampling of water lilies, koi and rain forests that, for me, is a soothing, earth-affirming collection.
Holt Installation
This is a 2007 solo show where my work was on exhibit at the Beth Urdang Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. Seen hanging are Two Koi #2, Two Koi #3, both 24×48 inches, 2006, as well as a series of six other koi paintings, 10×10 inches. Beth commented “how lush the paintings were surrounding her in the gallery.”
“Vernal Pool”, 48x60 inches, 2007
The dark green in this piece seems to work as a great foil for all the other colors. I love it.
“Waterfall 4”, 42x48 inches, 2007
This was the showpiece for my most recent show at the Beth Urdang Gallery in 2007. I made it specifically for the 2nd floor window on Newbury Street so that it would fit perfectly in that space. It was in the rotating window once used by Priscilla’s of Boston.
"10 Koi”, 30x40 inches, 2008
This was purchased by my girlfriend who is an interior decorator from Pride’s Crossing.
She bought it for her personal home collection. That added a delightful new dimension to our friendship.
Divas Unleashed
This photograph of me was taken last October when I was participating in a really funky, fun fundraiser in Boston’s South End neighborhood called Divas Unleashed Halloween Pet Parade to benefit the MSPCA Animal Care and Adoption Center.
George 20x16 inches, 2006
The portrait of George, a poodle, was an auction purchase. Because I was so busy at that time, when it came to actually doing the painting, I made it much larger, to thank George’s mom for being so patient
Evan, 16x20 inches, 2007
George’s mom was so pleased with his portrait that she commissioned me to do a gift portrait of her mother’s beloved Welsh corgi, Evan, for Christmas.
