After 20+ years of being a Paralegal I thought it was time to give back... my parents always gave back to their community, their church, their friends etc., so for me to do the same seemed the right thing to do. So as most people would say... "do what you know"... what do I know? I know how to be a Paralegal.. how to teach other Paralegals and how to ensure that they are treated with respect for the job they do and the knowledge they have and give to the legal community.
So.... I jumped in with both feet and developed ... The East Coast Paralegal. An ezine magazine for Paralegals and Paraprofessionals.
Our mission statement... "To empower and contribute to the knowledge and success of Paralegals through the practical enhancement of their professional journey".
Since our first edition in the spring of this year I have met the most wonderful and interesting woman and their journeys have warmed my heart and made me want to stand up and cheer ! They are so open and honest about making it through their careers being moms, caregivers, wives, community volunteers etc. and the stuggles they face and where they are now and where they want to be.
I guess the most rewarding part of being the Editor-in-Chief of ECP is that I have been blessed to share myself and these interesting woman to all of the Atlantic Provinces and hopefully to all of Canada. ECP has been recognized in the US and I was happy to share our goals and our lifestyle to the US. If ECP helps only ONE woman out there realize or continue her goals and develop her ideas then we have done our job. There is nothing more beautiful then watching and listening to a woman tell "her" story.
