I never felt More magazine catered to MOM's. I tell friends who are parents or not about the magazine all the time. I do agree with ths natural look, as I am Black/Native American and can wear my hair either way. My twentysomething daughter convinced me 2 years ago to stop chemically straightening my hair and it was the best thing I ever did. Our society does make plenty off of women young and old straightening their hair. It becomes hard for women to go natual with their hair and feel comfortable about it. I know when I went natural I got strange looks in public and it made me feel out of sorts. I have since overcome that and now if don't care. When I tire of smelling blow dryer hair, I condition and go curly and free. As for Ms Banks, the top she is seen wearing competed with her make-up and gave her a very ash wash look. I personally don't feel it complimented her complexion. I am not a fan of highlights myself except natural ones. I think she should have had more color to her eyes.
La lumière des matins. La voix des matins appelle le sourire des douces émotions, comme un rêve perpétuel, comme le chant de la vie qui décrit tendrement l'adorable jeunesse...... Francesco Sinibaldi
I agree with Pamela and the others about MORE being a mommy-centric magazine. Check the Census Bureau stats, folks: there are more single people (and NOT single MOMS!!!) in America than married or mommy-types. I'm not against moms (hey, I happen to have a great one!) but I am so SICK of this constant catering to the mom demo. I stopped reading MORE several years back because of the mom focus, and recently started reading it again. No change from before. Think I'll ditch it for something more "cutting edge" for single, self-supporting, chic, hip women in their 40s and 50s.
I also have to agree with Pamela. Sometimes I think MORE fronts as yet another "Mom" magazine rather than targeting women who may or may not have children. Cathy Clark, rock your curls. Just think how the hair industry profits from straightness...look no further than the technological wonder of the flat iron. Estella Jackson, you are old. OLD.
I have to disagree with Estella's comment. There's nothing racist about the comment made about Ms. Banks. She's beautiful before and after. The hair stylist is showing a before and after picture of Ms. Banks. Now that her looks has been enhance even more. She's still a beautiful young woman. I'm sure you’re beautiful too. Point well taken, but I find no racisms. Live Well and Stay Beautiful.
