The Gray Hair "Cure"

Scientists say a "cure" for gray hair is near. Brilliant or insulting?

According to UK's Daily Mail,  L’Oreal’s Paris-based research and development team is working on a project that will eliminate gray strands forever. Not expected to be finalized until 2020, the proposed treatment is comprised of an oral supplement and specialized hair treatments that will increase the production of melanocytes (the pigment cells that give hair its color) to return locks to their original pre-silver shade.

What do you think? Has anti-aging gone too far? Or is this an exciting life-changing invention?

I think its an amazing discovery!! I just wish this would be coming out sooner!!! Yes i think that the world is not really open to accepting the older generation but when you go gray in your early 20's, its really devastating..I have been dyeing my hair since I was twenty two..every month..its been the most annoying thing in my life..I have always said that if there was anything anything I could change in my life it would be my gray hair!!!!!!!! SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO CRY!! seriously its awful, yes i do think older people look great with it, but i am only 29 now...and i just don't know what else to do..i will be so happy when this comes out..i can't wait..!!!

My mom said she would let her hair go gray when she became a grandmother so I think it was a bit of a relief when I told her I was expecting my first child...I was 22, she was 44. No more coloring her black hair...I think inside she was cheering, lol. Flash forward to 2008 when I became a grandmother for the first time at 53. Well, the thought of going gray occurred to me and I actually let my hair grow out a bit, just to 'test the waters' but found I like coloring my hair. I don't know if I would take the pill because I don't just dye my hair to it's natural color: I like to play with it a little but more power to those who want to...why not!

I'm 42, and started going gray in my 20s. I have been fighting it tooth and nail! It's my one big vanity: I'll let the shaving go in the winter; rarely wear makeup... But the hair! I just don't want to be gray. What has been very odd, though, over the years, my girlfriends have always encouraged me to color my hair, and my hair dressers have always just dismissed my question, "should I stop?" with, "Oh hell no. You're too young." But the men in my life have always said, "Stop coloring. It will be sexy!" So, I finally decided to do it. I'm going to let it the gray grow out. And my concerns are that 1. I haven't earned the gray, and so I won't be able to carry it well. 2. It will make me look tired. Also, my natural color is near black, and so the white is just alarming to me. I have about an inch of gray now, and I hate the stark contrast, the obvious line between "old" and "new." I'm extremely self conscious going out in the world. I would so appreciate any suggestions. ilsita

It's not the color of gray hair that bothers me, it's the texture. I hate that fuzzy look. If this product takes care of the fuzz I'd definitely use it.

I would love to use this product. I really dislike paying $100 every 6 weeks to have my hair colored! 6 weeks is really stretching it because I really should do it every 5 weeks
