The writer decided to create a "life list"—and guess what? She ran a half-marathon!
Let me start out with: I am a wife and mother of four, and bearing down on the four zero age number. I just started to read MORE and never imagined myself 10 years ago even flipping through a magazine for "old" women. Well, here I am, love the magazine and realize 40 is not "old".
Not too long ago, I watched the movie "Bucket List" (I know, I am a little behind times) and decided to create a list (My Life List) for myself. First of all, I do not have a terminal illess (thank goodness) like the characters in the film. My only illness is procrastination and drinking WAY too much coffee throughout the day (again, mother of four)! So this movie got me to thinking about why do we wait until there is very little, to no, time left to decide to live our dreams? Is it due to financial situations, busy schedules, kids, family, work, school etc.? And it seems to me one year after another goes by and here I am wondering if through all my busy days have I really done what I have always intended to do? I think for a women the "I" seems too selfish and the "I" needs to stay focused on everyone else in her life, so we think.
So this is how "My Life List" was born. I have attached a photo of one of my dreams that I was able to check off on my list, and it felt so rewarding and good to make that check! The cool thing was I was able to share this first dream of mine with my youngest sister, who is on the left of the photo (I am I the right). June 7, 2009 I ran and finished my first ever, half marathon in Deadwood, South Dakota!! I have talked about trying to run one for years and now I am tired of years passing by, it is time to live!
