3 Ways to Weatherproof Your Workout Attitude

Did you skip a workout this week? Fall means not only a change in weather but often, additional responsibilities that can make it difficult to exercise regularly. Here are tips to overcome the common challenges that come with Autumn.

1) For anyone who doesn’t live in a climate that is warm and dry all year round, Fall brings chilly and sometimes wet weather. The way to overcome this potential seasonal barrier is to:

  • Have the proper outdoor wear with you when you MIGHT need it. This might includs shoes you don’t mind getting wet, a rain coat and an umbrella.  Depending upon your situation, you might want to keep these items in a bag in your car. Two fitness stores I like: Rei and Lucy
  • Experiment with a new attitude if you don’t usually like to be out in the rain (see my previous blog about this).

 2) Expect the changes in weather and responsibilities. Now, start thinking about how the changes might undermine your exercise-related plans. Then adapt your plans accordingly.

3) Change your exercise goals. If the changes this Fall will make your current exercise goals difficult to achieve, change your goals for this Fall (e.g., amount of exercise, place for exercise, type of exercise, etc.)

Flexibility is key if you want to sustain a physically active life. Because exercise has to fit into YOUR life, it must accommodate YOUR needs. When your needs change, exercise has to change, too.   HAPPY AUTUMN!
