Should Shirley Jones Pose for Playboy?

Did you see this news clip?

"Shirley Jones, who played the wholesome mom on "The Partridge Family" may be ready for a big, bold step. Ms. Jones, who was so wholesome on "The Partridge Family," might pose nude for Playboy at the age of 75, if her husband/manager Marty Ingels has his way."

"She's still drop-dead gorgeous, and at the age of 75, a natural beauty," Ingels told Page Six. "I'm her husband, and I think it would be sensational. Mature women are relevant."

Well, I saw it and here is my plea to Shirley:

Please don't do it! You're still gorgeous and amazing but I have no need to know if your boobies are "Point[ing] in the direction of Alberquerque."

You are the mother of Keith Partridge for god's sake! What would Rubin Kincade say? How will Lori and Danny feel? And does anyone remember what the heck the two little kids names were?!!

Do you really want young men to be ogling your photos and fondling themselves while singing "I Think I Love You?"

I applaud your age defiant look and all the things you have accomplished. Mature women are relevant!!! They are relevant for their wisdom, experience, inner beauty and yes, even outer beauty...but please just let us live on with our visual of you in the velvet suit with the high neck ruffled white shirt and a tambourine. Naked is not one of the ways I need to think of you, Florence Henderson or Marion Ross. You were the Mom icons of my day and I choose to remember you that way forever.

So for me and the rest of your fans, keep your clothes on Shirl.

One last thought...if you go au natural....I am thinking posing across the hood of the family bus would be the way to go.

Do you want to see Shirley Partridge naked?

Personally, I think that it is Playboy and not Shirley Jones who needs an overhaul. Do I want to see Shirley Jones undressed? No. Undressing? Sure - my burlesque posse in Toronto could probably show her a few things. Now if we are talking Helen Mirren - heck yes! She wasn't a Calendar Girl for nothing.

Ms. Adler, your comments were rude. If you don’t like the magazine, don’t buy it. It’s vulgar to suggest that men/boys only look at that the pictures to give themselves a hand. Some read the articles as well as write them. It’s refreshing that Playboy recognizes that at 75, she still has “it”. I might like to see what Mr. Hefner captured on film and what her diet/exercise regimen is. If she fits the rigorous profile required to be a centerfold in Playboy, then kudos to her and shame on you for implying that a wife and mother cannot be sexy at any age. I suppose you think it might detract from her if she chose to pose. To pose or not to pose, is not the question. Whether YOU are woman enough to acknowledge that your version of beauty may be only skin deep, is. Consider that you would do well should you become half the woman that Mrs. Jones is, with or without clothes. Mrs. Jones, YOU ROCK. Ms. Adler, you wish.

Leslie, shame on you for writing a letter that makes you sound like a colossal hypocrite! Shame on MORE for featuring it, for the same reason! We jump up and down about how women are discriminated against, 'kept in their place', and manipulated by men. Yet here you are telling an incredible, multi-talented woman that she should restrict herself to only ONE role (and a fictitious one at that) in life. It's time to STOP SENDING THE DOUBLE-STANDARD MESSAGE.
YES! Playboy is likely to retouch her just as they do all of the models and she'll look great. I am 63 and told often I have a Playboy body ( actually it's a hiking and yoga body) ans I'd model for Playboy in a heartbeat knowing the effects of good lighting and that airbrush.
For crying out loud..the woman is a full blown adult and should/can do whatever she wishes. If this were a much younger person considering this action, we would say "she's young and does not quite know what she's doing and this could affect her in her adulthood". Clearly Ms. Jones does not have that issue. If she's up to it and her husband is being supportive...go for it Ms. Jones! This could be tastefully done - it's art.
