Madame X, I don't recall your name anywhere on the checks from my insurance company to the hospital (which I pay the premiums for) and any of my checks to my OBGYN for out of network co-payment.

It is irresponsible to highlight over-40 pregnancies. Birth defects and other difficulties rise substantially the older the mother. Besides concern for the health of babies and mothers, I am NOT happy about having to pay for expensive hospital stays for women who push the limit. We ALL pay for this lack of judgment.

The comments doubting Halle Berry's glow was in fact due to pregnancy and that most of these conceived with fertility medication is simply hateful. Yes, women over AND under 40 use fertility medication if necessary, but many still do it the old fashion way. I am 43 and had a son at 42 - the old fashion way. And yes, I had quite a lovely glow due to my pregnancy. No money for plastic surgery or expensive facials. Yes, I did pamper my face in my bathroom while home on bedrest. I would think that women of our age would be above such judgmental criticism. At 43, I am loving my beautiful son and clear skin (that I never quite had before). Happy Holidays and a more peaceful spirit to all!

i think it is irresponsible reporting not to stress that most of these women had to have 'help' conceiving and that a lot are donor egg pgs. yes, in celebrity wealth world it may be easier to get pregnant. in real life, if you are past 40 your choice of doctors is very limited; they won't even see you except to offer donor egg ivf for fear that you will bring down their success rates. never mind the 3k in injectable meds and 10k a pop for ivf that has less than a 50% chance of working. to so blithely say that pregnancy is a becoming more and more normal for over 40's is just irresponsible. there is not enough education in america to tell women that fertility dramatically decreases for first timers after 35 if they want to try with their own eggs. we need more education not fairy tales. medical technology won't save you. i am speaking from experience, if i had known then what i know now, i would have started trying much earlier.
