Obama's Cabinet picks are women) or as one of the czars (though fewer than 10 percent are women). But even if you sit at the table, you'll still be an Obama outsider if you can't dunk the ball.
Despite Obama's attempted dismissal of the sexism charge as "bunk," his own actions show that he knows the power of behind-the-scenes bonding. As a freshman state senator back in Illinois, Obama helped form a weekly poker game in Springfield, and not just for the fun of it. According to a February '08 New Yorker story: "And, like Teddy Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson, Senator Obama seems to have played the game at least partly because it enabled him to form political alliances that he might not otherwise have formed." Or as the president himself told the AP six months earlier: "In Springfield, it was a way to get to know other senators, including Republicans."
So why, Mr. President, do you assume that women do not need these political alliances? Is it that the White House is a man's world (a question that yesterday's New York Times explored on page one)? Or is it simply that you are uncomfortable around women?
American women should expect more from our president. And maybe here is a lesson learned: In the end, women cannot keep relying on men's willingness to include them. It's time to elect a woman president. With 2012 just around the corner, it's time to find a franchise player of our own.

I am really tired of people going after President Obama on stupid, petty, trumped up charges and allegations. When President Obama said "this is bunk", he meant the trumped up charges and the article-writer knows this. She should have had an issue over her daughter saying "Sarah Palin rocks her world" because of a sport she plays vs. teaching her the important issues at stake here. Sarah Palin is a polarizer and a hate-monger, as well as a sensationlist. The article writer obviously is campaigning for her and that is her right, twisting our President's words is not her right and is offensive. I hope she does not regularly write for the magazine as I expected more from More!
Talk about a lot of BUNK - this article is BUNK. puh-leez.
PLEASE, do not promote this woman. She is no friend to women. Any psychologist can tell you who she cares about. And how can she claim to be "just folks," with her $600 Japanese glasses (so much for promoting American jobs), her $400 shoes , etc.? Even people who have previously been her employees and/or friends say she's delusional. She is not relevant, just flashy, therefore gets a lot of press. Most of us will NOT watch, read or pay any attention to her, especially the age women who are your readers.
Not a fan of MS. Palin. She is not good for women who think.
Here is what I posted on the other Palin post: OK So I am not a fan - can't be given my belief in choice among other major issues. While I appreciate the "alternative path" to a political career -her decision to step down early from the Governor's position did more to HURT HER AS A MODEL THAN HELP. Women are not quitters! Why did she quit? Also, Hilary Clinton is not the only female politican - How about the late great Stephanie Tubbs Jones (OH recently died) - she rose up from her humble beginnings and attended law school and became a judge. She was African American. There are many other female politcians at the local, state and national level that have stories to tell beyond Hilary. One final point : I never got over the fact that Moma Palin, against her Drs' advice, got on a plane when she was told not to fly - she gave birth about a week after as I recall. What kind of logical person does that - just to attend a political event.
