Movie lovers are really enjoying their popcorn this time of year as the industry is in the thick of awards season. And here’s one honor we’re happy to cheer: Ava Duvernay just became the first black woman to win Best Director at the Sundance Film Festival.

BET reports her film, Middle of Nowhere, tells the tale of Ruby, a woman who must adapt to life after her husband is sent to prison.

“It touches on the prison wives’ tale, but really the story of a woman who’s living in a relationship that’s imbalanced,” Duvernay tells the network.

Here’s a trailer for the film. We’ll bring the popcorn.
