This tidy, little updo is perfect for the days you know you should wash your hair but just don't feel like doing it. With this tutorial, you can tame your dirty locks with an easy three-strand braid and fold it up into a polished braided chignon to finish. Take a hint from the Tadashi Shoji runway, and pair this simple 'do with intricate patterns or textures; that way, your hair won't distract from your gorgeous outfit.
1. To create a sleek look, start with straight hair. Create a strong center part, and secure hair into a sleek ponytail using a fine bristle brush.
2. Braid the ponytail into a tight, smooth, three-strand braid, and secure with a small elastic band.
3. Pull the braid to the left side of the ponytail, and secure with bobby pins.
4. Then fold the hair over itself and toward the right side of the ponytail. This will create a horizontal chignon at the base of the head. Tuck the loose end under, and pin in place. If your hair is very long, repeat the folding process until the length of the braid is secured to the head using pins. Finish with a shine-and-hold spray.
