How to Create Carrie Underwood's Side-Swept Hairstyle

Carrie Underwood has perfect hair and makeup every time she hits the red carpet. Her signature side-swept hairstyle is perfect for fall weddings, school, date nights, nights out on the town, or anytime you want the streets to serve as your runway! Pair it with a bold or neutral shiny lip. Here's how to create her popular side-swept hairstyle in two quick steps.

Carrie Underwood Side Swept Hairstyle

Look flawless and polished by duplicating Carrie Underwood's signature side-swept hairstyle. This style looks great on just about every girl. For example, our model has darker and longer hair than Carrie's, and yet this style was easily re-created. This side-swept style also makes thinner hair appear fuller. That's because gathering all your hair to one side creates fullness while the gathered portion in the back provides dimension. Here's how to get Carrie Underwood's covetable look.

Carrie Underwood Side Swept Hairstyle

1. Curl your hair with a big-barrel curling iron. Allow curls to set, and spray with a long-wearing, setting hairspray.

2. Gather all your hair to one side, and keep it in place by twisting it from the back and pinning it into place. Spray the remaining hair on the other side of your head in the direction you want the curls to go. For this style, we recommend directing the curls back and away from the face. This styling technique will stretch out your curls a bit, making your hair look more voluminous and wind-swept—and more "Carrie" like. You can also brush out the curls to keep things very Old Hollywood–looking as well.
