My story is short and simple (especially after having long hair all of my life!).  I was on the "color bottle" for 10 years.  Technically, coloring my hair would be my first after forty.  However, tired of high maintenance and the soaring price of a colorist, I decided six months prior to my 50th birthday to let my gray grow out.  After my 50th birthday, I had most of my locks snipped off. 

My first at fifty: short, gray and no longer thinking twice about the color of my hair!  I love it.

P. S. I receive compliments from younger women and, dare I say it, stares from men half my age!
