This high messy bun looks great on everyone, and with a few simple tricks, you can get the look no matter what your hair texture or length (well, almost). This easy technique will help you create a bun with volume for a no-fuss updo hairstyle.
Though this style will work whether your hair is straight, curly or a bit of both, it will look best with some fullness. Here, I curled Bella's hair with a clipless curling iron to add dimension and texture to the hair as well as tame flyaways and frizz. I recommend spraying the hair with a volumizing spray and teasing at the roots before curling each section of hair. If your hair is on the thin side, consider teasing your hair, curling it and then brushing out your curls into big waves with a large boar bristle brush to add volume and provide extra gripping and staying power for your bun.
1. Create a high ponytail with a scrunchie (yes, they're coming back) to add subtle volume to the base of your bun. Place a pencil through the base of your pony and hold straight up.
2. Wrap the ponytail around the pencil to form your ideal bun shape. This technique creates a more symmetrical bun and will keep your look high and tight yet messy.
3. Remove the pencil, and secure the bun shape with hairpins. Gently pull at the sides of your bun to create volume and adjust the shape.
Spray your finished messy bun with holding mist for all-day hold. Pair it with a fabric headband or flower clip for a touch of whimsy. And that's it, the perfect no-fuss hairstyle!
