1. Keep All Other Makeup Minimal
When you’re rocking a lip color this fierce, it’s best to let your mouth do the talking. Keep all other makeup subdued. I love that Ashley’s look uses a matte, neutral eyeshadow, but highlights the eyes with a little bit of liquid eyeliner. Her winged out liner keeps her eyes open and awake without taking attention away from a bright lip. To copy Ashley’s cat-eye look we love Almay’s Liquid Eyeliners.
2. Create a Long-Lasting Lip Color
Anyone can slap on some lipstick and call it good, but the reason Ashley’s pout is so fantastic is the rich, opaque color that looks like it could last all night. For long-lasting lip color, start by exfoliating lips to remove the dead skin. This can be done with a sugar scrub, a wet washcloth, or even an old toothbrush. Next, line lips in color that coordinates with your lipstick. Lip liner may seem like a technique from the '90s, but as long as your shades are similar, the liner will keep your lipstick from running out of place and you cause a strange, oh-so-fake outline. Then use your lip liner to fill in the lips. This will make your lip color look extra rich. Next, dab a little translucent powder over the lips for staying power and fill in with your choice of lipstick. For Ashley’s fuchsia lips try Clinique's Chubby Stick Moisturizing Color Balm in Woppin' Watermelon. Or try Ashley’s vampy red lip look with Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in Dragon.
Finally, create an overall glow with some well-placed illuminating makeup. Apply a little bit of highlighter, like NARS blush in Albatross, across the cheekbones and just underneath the brow bone. This will give you a dewy, camera-ready look and will let your bold lips shine.
