Red Carpet: Best of Beauty 2014 SAG Awards

The 2014 SAG Awards brought smoky eyes, classic updos, and red lips. But it also brought pink-toned makeup looks, faux bobs, and one pregnant momma's modern take on a classic bouffant. Check out our favorite looks of the night and get inspired.

Amy Adams
Amy Adams hit the SAG awards red carpet Saturday night looking like a classic Hollywood siren. The actress, who took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for American Hustle, hid her long locks in an elegant faux bob. Jenny Balding, NYC Cutler/Redken Styling and Grooming Expert, creates a faux bob by blow-drying hair with a round brush. Next she uses a large curling iron to create S-shaped waves through the front of the hairline. She brushes through the curls for a softer look. To get Adams' look, she suggests rolling curls up rather than under and pinning at the nape of the neck. Adams completed her look with a gorgeous, reddish orange lip.

Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland's looks are always refreshing, because she keeps her hair and makeup simple and fresh. (Not to mention she has eyebrows Cara Delivingne could envy.) Hyland wore her hair in a deep side part with soft, cascading curls. Pink-hued blush and eyeshadow pair with a nude lip for an elegant, natural beauty.

Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett seems to always get red carpet beauty right. For the SAG awards, Blanchett, who took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, wore a soft pink lip with matching blush on the apples of her cheeks. She paired the look with a low swept chignon at the nape of her neck.

Sophia Vergara
With Sophia Vergara's sparkly gown and bold statement necklace, it might be easy for her hair and makeup to go unnoticed. But Vergara wore the perfect stand-out wine lip color and a deep chocolate smoky eye. For Vergara's natural-looking bold brow look, use a spoolie brush to lift the brows upward after filling them. The brushed-up look keeps your brow pencil or powder from looking too harsh. Last of all, Vergara switched up her hairstyle by parting her hair on the side, rather than her usual middle part—an easy switch-up I'll be trying immediately.

Jennifer Lawrence
I have to admit, it took me longer than most to jump on Jennifer Lawrence's pixie-cut bandwagon. But after seeing how flawlessly styled her intentionally disheveled cut looked on the red carpet, I'm a believer. To get your short haircut as stylish, Balding shares her tips: "Make sure to keep your layers slightly longer through the top area, but shaggy and textured to create an even flow throughout. Have the hair trimmed close to the nape, so the weight is taken away from the ear area." A styling wax or styling paste creates the roughed-up texture. As for her makeup, Lawrence balanced her navy-hued smoky eye look with a subtle nude lip.

Kerry Washington
How gorgeous did Olivia Pope (er, Kerry Washington) look on the red carpet? The mother-to-be wore her ballerina bun in a bouffant style, finished with a thin black ribbon. Her pink blush and lipstick and sparkly eye makeup played to her maternal glow. Also, Washington bared her baby bump in a crop top, because she's Kerry Washington. And she can.

Lupita Nyong'o
Big round of applause to Lupita Nyong'o for not wearing pink makeup on the SAG Awards red carpet. Although I love the look, after seeing the umpteenth actress in pink makeup, it started to feel a little less fresh. Nyong'o, who is not afraid of taking chances with her red carpet looks, won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "12 Years a Slave." She wore her hair in ’90s fade. The iridescent blue eyeshadow played off her turquoise Gucci dress. And here I thought only Marc Jacobs models could pull off blue eye makeup. Color me wrong.

Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock was hands-down my favorite beauty look of the night. Bullock looked glamorous, but in a way that seemed wearable in the real world. A shimmery, gunmetal smoky eye brought out her deep brown eyes, but a peach-tinted blush and lipstick kept the look from being too sultry and dark. Her slightly undone updo was casually perfect.
