There's something so luxurious about a facial mask: the thick texture, the relaxation they force upon you as you wait for them to dry, and the feeling of fresh, rejuvenated skin after you wash one off! (In fact, I'm letting one dry as I write this.) Plus, it's fun to walk around your house looking like a goblin, scaring your spouse, children, and pets.
I've used masks for many years to address specific skin concerns. They're great preventative products and sometimes quick fixes, too!
Here are my favorite masks and the reasons why I love them. You're going to see a lot of Freeman masks on my list of faves, and that's because they are tried, true, and affordable.
1. Freeman Facial Peel Off Cucumber
Who doesn't love pretending to peel their face off? This is a classic peel-off mask with a pleasant cucumber scent. It peels off easily, unlike the much pricier peel-off masks from Boscia. It does a great job of taking dry, dead skin cells off with it!
2. Freeman Anti-Stress Mask with Dead Sea Minerals
You will you look like Cookie Monster with your bright blue face! This mask does a nice job both in decongesting pores due to the kaolin clay and also soothing the skin. Some clay masks are very drying but this one isn't. The scent is pleasantly relaxing, too!
3. Freeman Facial Enzyme Mask with Pineapple
This is like a mask that acts like a peel. It uses fruit acids from pineapple to dissolve dead skin cells and smells tropical! It doesn't tingle or burn. It is my skin pick-me-up, because it always works.
4. Origins Clear Improvement Activated Charcoal Mask
This is—hands-down—the best pore de-clogging mask I've tried. The activated charcoal really goes to work and pull out those ickies. (And since I'm the queen of blackheads, I ought to know.)
5. Glamglow Youthmud
I'm sure you've heard of Glamglow by now. All of their masks are jam-packed with goodies. There are three versions—Supermud for clarifying, Thirstymud for hydrating, and Youthmud for exfoliation and anti-aging. I love this because it's like caffeine for your face. There are actual tea leaves and volcanic pumice rock in this mask so you can feel the exfoliation. Another thing you'll feel? A noticeable tingle! This is the perfect mask for a quick rejuvenation before a night out!
6. Shiseido Benefiance Pure Retinol Instant Treatment Eye Mask
This is a mask for your under eye area and it's pretty damn miraculous. When I first tried it out, a coworker and I put one pad under just one eye. When we peeled off the mask and looked at each other, we were both amazed to see that the untreated eye appeared lower on the face! This retinol-concentrated mask gives eyes an instant and visible lift, and the proof was in the pudding!
