Author James Frey wrote about his true-life decent into drug addiction in the best-selling book, A Million Little Pieces. When it was revealed that Frey actually fictionalized some of his story, Winfrey lambasted him on national television.

Some even believed the story, until years later, when Jolie said in an interview that it would be so nice for their kids to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the movie where their parents fell in love. Oops.
