How can the Democrats counter that—shall we call it odd?—Clint Eastwood empty-chair speech at the Republican National Convention? Call in Betty White.

CNN reports that petitions on Facebook and are asking that the 90-year-old actress be allowed to help introduce President Barack Obama before his speech Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. But are officials listening?

“Clint Eastwood, the Republicans’ ‘mystery guest’ at the RNC, gave a bad name to older Americans everywhere with his absurd and awkward-to-watch introduction of Governor Romney,”’s petition reads, according to the network. “Take action today if you want to see a real (old) Hollywood icon get a political introduction right!”

So far, more than 34,000 people have “liked” the “Bring Betty White to the DNC” page on Facebook, while the petition has nearly 11,500 virtual signatures.

Will the Hot in Cleveland star heat things up in Charlotte? White’s rep tells CNN no, but our fingers are still crossed. As one Facebook post says, White may be off her rocker, but at least she’s not talking to it.
