Boomer Women Give Way More to Charity Than Men Do

New report shows older women far outpace men when it comes to philanthropic donations

We always knew women were givers, but a new report shows female boomers are, well, pretty much booming when it comes to charitable and philanthropic donations.

USA Today reports older women give a whopping 89 percent more of their income to charity than do men their age, according to the Women Give 2012 report, out of Indiana University.

“We did find that women are more generous,” Debra J. Mesch, director of the school’s  Women’s Philanthropy Institute at the Center on Philanthropy, tells the newspaper. “We’re not saying that women are better or men are worse, but that [charities] need to think about the differences in giving patterns and behavior of men and women.”
