I don’t know if greetings such as what I experienced are customary. I’m not a world traveler, but I don’t recall being greeted this way on return from two other international trips. Maybe he saw something in my eyes showing that I needed a little more attention than the other passengers did.
How I wish I had looked at his name so I could send this to him and let him know how the memory of our 30-second encounter will never fade. I wish I could say to him: “Thank you. Your words and smile touched me deeply and will never be forgotten.”
