Are you ready to put your money where your mouth is? Or would it be, put your mouth where your money is? At any rate, a new study suggests people do better on diets when they’re offered cold, hard cash.

The researchers of the Archives of Internal Medicine-published study said they would pony up $175 or more to participants who lost their goal weight by following a specific plan, with an extra $30 to $80 if they kept it up 20 weeks later, CNN reports.

The study found nearly 90 percent of participants said they “definitely” or “somewhat” attempted to keep the weight off, according to the network, leading the researchers to point to the money offers as a possible motivator.
