Innovative hip-hop artist and new dad Kanye West released the music video for his single "Black Skinhead" on his website yesterday. This is the first music video to come from his sixth studio album, Yeezus, which was released June 18. The music video is interactive: You control the speed, the sound level, and there is an option to screen capture parts of the video. The controls are somewhat confusing, but once you get the hang of the things it's possible to slow down and speed up the video, for what West terms a "chop [and] screw" effect.
This all comes after the drama of the video being leaked earlier in the month and West's angry response via Twitter.
Since the video's actual release yesterday, Kanye West has again taken to Twitter asking that people view the video in the way it was intended. "This is a step towards the possibilities of internet based video," West said. "Please don't diminish the user experience by just posting it as a normal video... Please link them to my site."
And since Ye asked so nicely, here you go: Kanyewest.com. Go check out the video and tell us whether you love it or hate it! Is this the future of music videos?
