It looks as though 2017 is going to be the year of the woman — in film, anyway! There are several movies that are coming out this year that will prove that girls can totally own.

1. Wonder Woman

Perhaps one of the most anticipated films of 2017, many are hopeful that Wonder Woman will be just as badass feminist as she is in the comics. The fourth film in the DC Cinematic Universe will depict a woman leader taking on challenges head on while finding herself and discovering her true destiny.
2. Beauty and the Beast

Starring: Emma Watson, Ewan McGregor, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans
The classic Disney tale is set to come to life this March as Emma Watson portrays Belle in the live-action adaptation of the film. The British actress has previously spoken out about her role in the film and will stand on her own as she navigates the world and finds love in the most unlikely of places.

Starring: Halle Berry, Dana Gourrier
Halle Berry stars as a mother who faces one of the most frightening, challenging ordeals of her life when her son gets kidnapped. The film follows Berry's character as she goes above and beyond to save her boy. Think: Taken, but totally woman powered.
4. Pitch Perfect 3

Starring: Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Ruby Rose, Hailee Steinfeld
The Bellas are back! The all-girl acapella group will be singing their way back into our souls come December, undoubtedly faced with more competition that they will work together and overcome like the national champs they are!
5. Rock That Body
Release date: June 16
Starring: Kate McKinnon, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz, Demi Moore, Ilana Glazer
Five college girlfriends head to Miami for a bachelorette party when things go awry: A male stripper ends up dead! Although the film is a comedy, we can't wait to see how these A-List ladies work together and figure all of this out.
6. Underworld: Blood Wars

Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James
Kate Beckinsale is the ultimate girlfriend with a vengeance! We are particularly excited for this film as it is directed by a woman for the first time in the Underworld franchise!
7. Red Sparrow
Release date: November 10
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton
J-Law is back in this new role where she plays a Russian intelligence officer. She will seduce a CIA agent (Joel Edgerton) as part of her next task and considers becoming a double agent in this thriller.
