Desert Rose, Starring Rosemarie DeWitt
Actress Rosemarie DeWitt, costar of the Showtime hit United States of Tara, blooms in feminine frocks that resist the heat with sheer fabrics, laser cutouts, origami pleating and feathers. Key to the look: chunky jewelry, exotic skin bags and supersexy heels. See the magazine story here, plus web-extras that show you how to get the look for less.

I am in total agreement with Ms. Robey. The Trail of Tears is in no way associated with fashion or beauty. The Cherokee Indians lost their lands and suffered hunger, disease and exhaustion in the 1838 forced migration the Cherokees called the Trail of Tears. Over 4,000 of the 15,000 died. Robert Lindneux's 1942 painting, Trail of Tears, commemorates this deplorable event. An apology from MORE Magazine for its lack of judgment and sensitivity is certainly in order.

Upon seeing the title of this photo in the magazine, I gasped with shock. The Trail of Tears was a horrific, genocidal episode in American history. To see the term used as a throwaway phrase to describe a fashion picture is the height of insensitivity As a long-time subscriber, I am deeply disappointed that More magazine displays such callousness toward humman suffering. Women on the Trail of Tears were wrapped in blankets contaminated with smallpox, not expensive dresses.
