This season, our editors are looking for risks to take and brows to feather. Take a peek at our roundup of the #MostWanted trends that we’ve totally fallen for. Because after all—if being thankful for getting to wear a killer statement sleeve to the office while still being on trend is wrong, then we don’t want to be right.

Over the Knee Boots

“I’ve been eyeing every pair of over-the-knee boots that have crossed my path for the last two seasons, and somehow I always found a way to convince myself that I didn’t need the gorgeous suede shoes of my dreams: “You’re not tall enough, Alexis!” or “Am I just asking for the strapless dress nightmare in the form of a boot?” Part of me said “buy the boots and wear with your fave tweed mini skirt,” and the other part of me said “your legs are way too short and you’ll never be able to pull them off.” Until now, that is... I just recently found a brown suede pair of block heeled OTK boots that fit my petite frame like charm, and needless to say, I am officially looking for any and all excuse to wear them. Whether it’s with a fun winter dress like one of my favorite bloggers, Olivia Rink is wearing, or with a classic pair of denim—I’ve never felt more sleek and chic. I know the trend isn’t for everyone, but if a shorty like me can find a will, you know there’s way. So this is me: your 4’11” friend encouraging you to buy that pair of OTK boots that you’ve been longing for because you can rock them! *Steps off soapbox*” —Alexis Puebla, Editor

Flats

“Bless the fashion goddesses for giving us so many trendy flats this season—my achy feet and I thank you. I’ve never been an everyday heels gal—usually reserving the look for either my favorite extra-special stilettos or the fanciest of events (and even then you’ll usually find me barefoot and holding my shoes before the end of the night)—and this year’s deluge of incredible flats shoe trends, such as backless loafers, combat booties, OTK flat boots, and super edgy fun ballet flats, means I’m living these months in fashion and in comfort. I’ve been wearing Design Lab’s Vett Faux Fur Leather Mules and a grommet, buckle-strap flat in the dupe style of my uber-coveted Miu Miu lace-up ballerinas basically every moment I’m not wearing slippers. Needless to say, my feet are treating themselves.”—Caitlin White, Senior Editor

Statement Sleeves

“There has definitely been a theme to my shopping purchases these past couple months and it is all about the sleeve game this season. I bought into the summer trend of oversized, flouncy ruffles and off-the-shoulder varieties, but was overjoyed to see it continue into fall and winter with a healthy dose of dramatic bell silhouettes, playful fringe, and romantic poufs adorning sweaters and long sleeve blouses alike. Not only can a strong sleeve make a huge style statement like Mary Lawless Lee from Happily Grey shows us, but this little (or sometimes hard-to-miss) detail allows me to stay cozied up in my favorite knits as the cold weather creeps up. Whether it’s an overly feminine bow or an edgy cutout sleeve, I am all about this easy styling trick to elevate an ordinarily boring outfit.” —Taylor Borde, Editor

Bold, Feathered Brows

“The full-on feathered brow is the easiest way to elevate your everyday makeup look without looking too overdone. Lately, I’ve been skipping the endless blending of the classic smoky eye and adding just a bit of my favorite mid-tone brown, matte shadow all over my lid and jet black mascara to complete the look. I’m constantly reaching for my NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe (a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz) and setting my brows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel so they stay all day. This look from Oh What’s Her Face is giving me all the #BrowGoals next to that vibrant shadow. In short, I’m living for this trend and I definitely think it’s worth the try—even if you’re just learning how to fill in those brows!” —Lindsay Goedert, E-Commerce Coordinating Editor

Velvet

“Lately I’ve been really into experimenting with patterns and textures, pairing bold-printed tops with textured bottoms while layering all sorts of different prints and fabrics in an attempt to form a total Instagram worthy #OOTD. Velvet is the perfect mixable, because the soft texture looks amazing when worn alongside silk or denim, while the subtle pattern of the textured fabric makes for a bold statement when paired with florals or polka dots. However if you’re looking to go full on velvet pantsuit like Tatyana Bohdan is doing here, I won’t stop you. I have a maroon crushed velvet midi skirt that is by far one of my most coveted wardrobe essentials, and let me tell you—it is a total stunner. It’s a tight fitting high-waisted skirt that reaches just past my knees and I always feel ultra sexy and chic whenever I declare a velvet night out. I’ll never turn down an opportunity to style something a little off kilter, but a classic go to outfit would feature a silk camisole tucked into my velvet skirt, topped with an edgy leather jacket. Oh so très chic.” —Alexis Puebla, Editor

Dark, Vampy Lips

“Every day is dark, vampy lips day for me, but this season designers have shown that they’re crazy on-trend and so it’s finally circled back around to me again. (Maybe I saw The Craft too many times as a teen.) Alice + Olivia, Marc Jacobs, and a handful of other runway shows had models in deep, bewitching lip colors that I live for. I tend to lean more to the purple, berry hues than the reddest of reds, so just try to pry my MAC Punk Couture and High Drama lipsticks out of my cold, fingerless-gloved hands.” —Caitlin White, Senior Editor

Oversized Plaid Blazers

“You couldn’t read about NYFW, or any fashion week for that matter, without the mention of this street style trend: the oversized, menswear-inspired plaid blazer. Everyone from Rihanna to Gigi Hadid (on and off duty) is rocking this über-practical look, like Lizzy Hadfield from Shot From The Street does so flawlessly. Whether for work or play, this patterned layering piece has worked its way into my fall wardrobe one way or another with its classic print and neutral colorway. I haven’t gone for the whole suit look quite yet, but I did dig up my mom’s vintage blazer just to get in on the trend. It’s the perfect way to tailor a lazy-day outfit of ripped jeans and a simple tee without going overboard while still working it into your 9-to-5 outfit. There’s nothing I love more than a piece that can perform double duty on a budget (thanks, Mom).” —Taylor Borde, Editor

White Boots

“White boots in the fall is a bold trend, I know, but I just recently caved and bought a pair of the whitest booties I could find because #NotAfraid. I love the danger of wearing white in the winter, and quite frankly—there’s very few shoes I won’t wear. In terms of booties, I am obsessed with a style that proves to be a total wardrobe double threat. A boot that can own it's office-appropriate seal of approval while also justifying its style points to wear out of office post-5 p.m. is definitely a shoe I need in my closet. Street style stars have been rocking white boots for months now so it’s only right that we, the all-too-humble commoners, take a note from someone like Amber Wilkerson from Every Once In A Style’s book of style tricks. Wear the white boots, and while you’re at it, maybe even throw on a pair of ruffled boot socks underneath because why not?!” —Alexis Puebla, Editor
