Fashion Bites: Sexy Galoshes, Plus Andrej Pejic’s Man Boobs

Hunter Unveils Thigh-High Rain Boots
Hunter, the premiere purveyor of galoshes, has decided to spice things up. Or spice them down. We’re not sure. They’ve added thigh-high galoshes to their inventory; you know, the kind of boots that people who stand in swamps wear? We imagine them to be boots that Julia Roberts might wear in Pretty Woman if she were forced to walk through a bog or fly-fish in a river for Richard Gere’s affections, which she wasn’t. In any case, you can buy them for $233. (Via Fashion Etc.)

Male Model Andrej Pejic Lands a Push-Up Bra Campaign
Dutch department store Hema hired Andrej Pejic as the face and body of an ad campaign for its newest push-up bra. The idea—we guess—is that the bra is so effective that it can make the flattest of chests look well endowed. Get it, because he’s a guy. Looks like the prettiest boy in the world is one step closer to his dream of becoming a Vitoria’s Secret angel; watch out Miranda. (Via Slate)

Donna Karan’s Haiti Ad Offends Some, Confuses Others
Donna Karan has come under fire for a new ad in which a glamorous-looking light-skinned Brazilian model is pictured sitting in front of two Haitian teenagers. Critics say the ad is racist and perpetuates the fashion world’s tendency to exotify the poor and/or dark-skinned, but the fact that Karan shot the ads in Haiti to bring attention to the ongoing relief efforts there—a cause she has personally been invested in since the devastating earthquake last year—confuses matters. Surely Karan wouldn’t want to undermine a cause that she cares so much about. That said, we don’t understand how seeing a decked out supermodel from Brazil draped in luxury goods among the people of a devastated country helps Karan’s brand. What do you think? (Via The Gloss)

Meryl Streep Looks Fabulous on Vogue Cover
Everyone’s favorite human being, Meryl Streep, landed the cover of Vogue at the age of sixty-two, making her the oldest woman to grace the cover in the magazine’s history. The fabulous shot and the accompanying photos inside have us thinking that if that’s what sixty-two looks like, we’d like to hurry up and get there please.

Jimmy Choo, Hermès Make Coffee Sleeves for the Super Rich
Because our morning cup of joe wasn’t pricey enough, Jimmy Choo and Hermès have added designer coffee sleeves to their inventory; they range from $165 to $250. Ah, capitalism.
