If you would have asked me about the sneaker trend last year, I would have 100 percent said it was not for me. Flash forward one year, and not only have I bought a pair, I’m kind of obsessed! You may not love the idea of pairing tomboy or borrowed-from-your-brother’s-closet sneakers with skinny jeans and mascara, but let me tell you, it doesn’t get more casual, cool, and comfortable all at the same time!
The key to making the sneaker trend work is keeping your look effortless. Keep your outfit simple with something more casual like skinny jeans, pants, or leggings as shown by Laura from Ascot Friday or Leandra from The Man Repeller. But, we’ve also seen street style bloggers pair their neon New Balances with a dress or skirt and look über chic, like Julie from Sincerely Jules. My key to determining how to style my sneakers is to look to the same pieces I would if I were wearing flats or booties. This helps keep my look casual and it’s the easiest way to work in my more masculine, sporty sneakers. You also don’t necessarily have to wear anything bright or loud. Keep it streamlined with a pair of black Nikes or even go less sporty with a pair of Supergas.
Honestly, the sneaker trend is all about being comfortable and looking effortless, so whatever pair you choose, rock them with confidence. Sport it, girl!
