Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but dogs are a close second. Long before Paris Hilton introduced the teacup-dog-as-accessory, we were playing fetch in our Manolos (well, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration). The point is, we’re concerned about the welfare of our furry friends, which is why we’re thrilled with the newest way to support the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: Heart U Back’s silk cord Dog Bone Friendship Bracelets. The 40 bracelets, available at heartuback.com, come in 13 colors (bright pink and blue alongside more sophisticated black and gray) and with tiny silver or gold dog-bone shapes. A percentage of each bracelet purchased will go to the ASPCA, with Heart U Back pledging to donate at least $125,000 to the charity. The cause is personal for designer Gavin Kovacs, who visited animal shelters as a child. The collection is so "people who love and care for animals have another way to give back while expressing their love for their pet," she explains. The bracelets work stacked or as singles, and we’re excited to take a pop of summery color with us into our fall wardrobe. Now we just wish we could get a similarly styled collar for Fido so it’d be a real friendship bracelet.
