It’s estimated the women’s jean market accounts for more than $8 billion. Not sure how deep your personal denim wardrobe is, but we can all agree that’s a whopping big number. For the last 10 years or so, our spies tell us that makers of denim have been looking for ways to connect with mature women (hello, over 40’s!). The thinking? The styles that fit women in their 20’s may not work when those women are in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and beyond. To that end, premium denim maker 7 For All Mankind has launched a brand new line called JEN7. Vice President of Product Peggi Jewell calls it “a brand by women for women,” featuring jeans that have an engineered fit that lifts and slims, with the same high quality denim that a woman who grew up wearing 7 For All Mankind jeans expects. Launching this month at Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks.com, the jeans will be offered in nine different washes and three different fits (Skinny, Slim Bootcut and Slim Straight), with sizes ranging from 2 to 14 and retailing from $175 to $215.
