The Italian powerhouse behind MaxMara is responsible for more than just fabulous coats, tailored pieces and jaw-dropping gowns, proven this June as it teams up with Women In Film, Los Angeles (WIF, LA) to honor actress Zoe Saldana with the 2010 Women In Film MaxMara Face of the Future award.
Professionally, Saldana has had a questionably glamorous existence as of late, ruling the sci-fi screens in both Avatar and Star Trek. Yet the multitude of red carpet fetes that come along with stardom have given her plenty of opportunities to prove her fashion aptitude. Her fresh look and fashion daring have endeared her to movie-goers and fashion folk alike.
The Face of the Future award, first presented in 2006, is dedicated to showcasing an actress who’s at a pivotal turning point in her career, as evidenced by both professional choices and community involvement. Past recipients have included Elizabeth Banks, Maria Bello and Emily Blunt.
“At the dawn of a new decade, it is heartening to acknowledge careers marked by independent vision, daring creative choices and unique talent,” said WIF, LA president Jane Fleming.
With a career that shows no signs of stopping, and with her embodiment of grace and poise, Saldana surely fits this bill.
