Wait. You mean after all these years of dieting and all those miles logged on the treadmill, we really should have just been reading food labels? Now they tell us.
The Atlantic reports that a new survey conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that women who check out the nutritional information provided on labels are skinnier by eight pounds on average.
Of course, that’s not to say that simply reading that a serving of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia contains 240 calories will mean the calories don’t count. But we suppose we see the logic: Knowing what a serving will cost us might prevent us from downing the whole pint in one sitting. Ugh. So it’s back to the dieting and the treadmill after all. We were so close.
