Hi Elizabeth, sounds like fun! The Barbeque is a good tip off, that this is going to be a more casual event, ie. a cocktail dress would be overdressed and a simple sheath would not feel festive enough. I love the idea of skirt or dress that is A-line with some movement for dancing Spring 2010 will feature alot of vibrant colors, bright sapphires, kiwi greens and poppy reds. Lots of bold floral prints in dresses and skirts. Where a color that makes you feel great (try NOT to do black), consider a print, but make sure you are wearing IT and not the other way around. Nothing too bare. Highlight your assets, where shoes that you can dance in, no hose, carry a clutch or small shouloer bag in leather or lacqured straw. Hope this helps! Thanks so much for your reply, I created my wish list on MyShape but it can only be shared via email. |

Hi Divadebbi, so here's my dilemma - in spring 2010 I will be going to my husband's work reunion....25 years ....and the venue is a Casino Resort & Golf & Country Club for a Barbeque Dinner and Dance.
I have completed the profile on myshape.com and I am shape M.
But I am still not sure which way to go as in very dressy ???? not so much ???? smart casual ???
I am 52, 5' tall and 115 lbs
Any suggestions ? I don't want to look like a frump but also don't want to look like I crashed the wrong party either.

Hi Rhonda, I have a great suggestion. It is a website called www.Myshape.com They have a wide array of fashionable merchandise at all price points. What is completely unique is that you can avail yourself to your own "Personal Shopper". The founding principle, is that they can provide garments that will perfectly fit every customer...how? The one fly in my ointment, was that to avail yourself, you do have to provide them with detailed body measurements. They will guide you through it and even send a free tape measure. I was looking for a shortcut and wrote to them, telling them that they had be up to the measurement page...way too complicated!!! My guess was that they lost most people there as well. They promptly and politely told me, that it is the lynch pin to their success. Every garment is measured to specification, to ensure a proper fit. They also offer a 15% discount for those who do work with their Personal Shoppers. (Great stuff is available to purchase generally, for people who just like their fashion offerings). I would LOVE your feedback, if you do pursue this. Best, Debbi www.Divadebbi.com
Thank you so much for your quick response. I had never heard of myshape.com but I visited the website after reading your post and I am anxious to get started with them. It definitely sounds like a great solution for me. Thank you so much!! I will keep you posted. Rhonda |

Divadebbi, If you can help me find clothes that fit I would be forever indebted to you. I am 5'5" and weigh 90 lbs. I am trying to gain weight but it is difficult (medical reasons...won't drag anyone through the details). I am just a bit too tall for petite pants. I have previously found some Canadian lines that were perfect but I can no longer locate them. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wow, Diva Debbie! I'm so surprised that you were able to respond so quickly!! What a Blessing you are!
I have to wait until the first week of October, when I get paid, to try out some of your terrific suggestions, but you can bet that I will definitely let you know how what you've recommended, works!
My sad hair is so dry, that even after cutting off almost an inch, I still look I've been electrocuted, so
I'm pretty desperate, not being able to go to a real salon. You are an Angel!! Thank you so very much for you quick reply and your suggestions. Hope that all your questions are this easy(grinning at you!)!
Warmly, Kiana.
Kiana, You are so very welcome! In the interim, you might want to try massaging a few tablespoons of olive oil on your hair and sleeping with it overnight…just remember to put an old towel on the pillow. Mother Nature works well too! Best always, Debbi www.Divadebbi.com |

Hello, Divadebbie! My question is this: what anti-aging, wrinkle-helping and shampoo/conditioning products would you recommend for a 56 year old woman who is on SSI and can not afford the really good products, like the most desired by ME, Oil of Olay Regenerist? My hair is also over-processed (permed last January) and colored; therefore, it's extremely dry, brittle, fly-away and frizzy? I know that there are many other women out there who are in this same predicament, but really, REALLY want to take as good care of their hair and skin as they are financially able to. Thank you so very much for your help!! I can not afford to go to a salon, etc., for beauty tips and advice, although I am a big fan of the Total Beauty website.
Hi Kana! Thanks for asking!!! As a Beauty Blogger, I try zillions of products and I have found some inexpensive treasures. I think both Suave and Tresemme do a fantastic job of creating great products that mimic more expensive brands. To get your hair in better condition, you really must deep condition once a week. I never it do it as directed! Instead, I microvwave a good dollop in a separate container for about 20 secondes, apply it to my whole head, go about my business for 20 minutes and then shampoo and use just a touch of conditioner. Garnier Fructise has a really good one. You can find these products at Target, for great prices and they often have sales. I often am happiest washing my face with Cetaphil soap for sensitive skin. It’s a huge bar and it lasts for a really long time. CVS’s does their own version of the Regenerist line for about 40% less than the Olay price tag. My absolute favorite beauty product is Smith’s Rosebud Salve. When I noticed what an amazing job it did on the mini creases I imagined forming on my upper lip, I started using it under my eyes everynight! I swear not a wrinkle. It’s $6 bucks!!! You can get it at Sephora or on their own website. I always share all my secrets! I love beauty bargain as much as the next gal! Please read my blog www.Divadebbi.com for more advice. Let me know how it works out for you.!!! |
