Gabrielle Giffords, the former U.S. representative who survived a mass shooting in Arizona last year, traveled to the French Alps this week, Reuters reports. It was her first international trip since the rampage that left her in a wheelchair and six people dead.
With her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, Giffords rode a cable car, smiling at the Mont Blanc view, according to the news service.
“Gaby is really enjoying this visit,” said Kelly, who, along with other American astronauts, was there to visit a mountain research station, Reuters reports. “This is a great day for us.”
