Online dating is fine, but wouldn’t online friend-making be awesome? Forget Match.com and click your way over to sites such as SocialJane.com, GirFriendCircles.com and GirlfriendSocial.com.

The New York Times reports that sites connecting potential female friends are popping up online, and they work much like the traditional dating sites: Enter some criteria, post your profile and start searching for a new pal.

Many women using the sites have recently relocated or are newly divorced or retired, according to the newspaper.

“It’s OK. We’re busy, we’ve got a lot of stuff going on,” GirlfriendSocial’s Amanda Blain tells the Times. “You’re not weird or strange.”

And really, who couldn’t use another friend?
