'Calendar Girls' Inspires Florida Grannies to Bare All

Fundraiser aims to raise enough money to redo local American Legion kitchen.

You can only make so much money selling baked goods. But showing your cookies? Now, that’ll help pay the bills.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the latest sex symbols in Lake Helen, Florida, are a group of grannies who, inspired by the movie Calendar Girls, opted to bare all—tastefully, of course—for a fundraising calendar.

The brains behind the Ladies of 32744—named for the town’s ZIP code—hope to earn enough dough to pay for remodeling their local American Legion kitchen, according to the newspaper.

“We can be quite daring in Lake Helen, I guess,” organizer and photographer Pat Chadwick tells the News-Journal.

Those daring women—who range in age from 44 to 87—are discreetly covered by items including a floral bouquet, a wrapped present and a strategically placed scarf, the newspaper adds.

“I think it sends a good message,” Betty Pfahler, 87, aka Miss June, tells the News-Journal. “You can have fun at any age—just keep a positive outlook.”

Sounds like bake sales should be put on the back burner. This calendar is way more fun—and has fewer calories, too.
