Going Gray? Don’t Hide It!

More women are letting their silver side show

Wash that gray right out of your hair? Why bother?

Not only is gray hair trendy among celebs right now (Lady Gaga and Kelly Osbourne dye it gray; Helen Mirren shines in silver), but a growing number of career women are keeping it real, too, the Associated Press reports.

But that doesn’t mean gray locks at work are welcomed with open arms, the news service notes, citing a current lawsuit brought by Sandra Rawline, 52, against her Capital Title of Texas boss, alleging she was ordered to get the gray out of her hair.

“While the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 was created to protect employees 40 years of age and older, some men and women may still encounter ageism in the workplace,” Stephanie Martinez Kluga, a human resources services manager, tells the AP. “The longstanding perception that men with gray hair are experienced and women with gray hair are simply old may still be an issue that affects employees in workplaces across the U.S.”

We say, be proud of your gray. Even Proverbs says, “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.” Who are we to argue with that?
