More: Did having the operation boost your self confidence?
SMF: Oh yeah! I was only 16 years old. At 14, going through puberty, I was super developed. It was so hard because people treated me differently and thought I was older than I really was. Going to a high school dance or attempting to ride a horse was difficult because I had these triple-D breasts.
More: Did the kids make fun of you and tease you?
SMF: There were moments where people said things and that sparked insecurity. I devote a whole chapter to that period of my life, called “Over the Shoulder Boulder Holder.”
More: Did that experience have an impact on the person you are today?
SMF: Oh yeah! It definitely affects the type of parent I am and how I deal with insecurities.
More: You still have insecurities?
SMF: Everyone has insecurities.
More: As I skim through this book I noticed—Michael Jackson once babysat for you?
SMF: He did.
More: While we are on the subject of famous pals, you are a close friend of Demi Moore, who has three grown daughters. What advice has she given you?
SMF: She is such an inspiration to me and is such an incredible force in my life. I love her from the bottom of my heart. She has taught me so much. I watch how she interacts with her children and I take that to heart. She has taught me to be a strong woman.
More: In addition to your book, you are also the Mommy Ambassador to Target. Tell me about that role?
SMF: I am thrilled to have this role. For me it is a dream come true because I am your typical Target shopper and I would rather spend a day there than at a spa. It is my slice of heaven. I do fun mommy videos, tips for other moms on topics such as travel and cooking, share advice and create an open dialogue.
More: You also own a store called Little Seed, which sells all organic baby stuff?
SMF: We are green in every color. When we started we were the first to carry BPA-free bottles, which no one knew what that was. In terms of going organic, it is all about balance. Yes, we recycle, don’t leave lights on, and only use water when we need it. But I am also realistic about my girls loving to play with Barbie and princess dolls. There are small shifts we can make that will make a big difference in the environment.
More: An example would be?
SMF: Jagger [Frye's 3-year-old daughter] wears all the hand-me-downs from Poet [Frye's 5-year-old daughter], and we reused Poet’s furniture.
More: Any chance you will try for a boy?
SMF: I would love a boy, but to be honest, I would love another girl. I love the girl energy.
More: Wouldn’t your husband [Jason Goldberg] feel outnumbered?
SMF: (laughs) He always feels outnumbered but he would love to have another girl.
