What’s so special about October 13th?

That’s why the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network has asked Congress to designate October 13th Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
“If one in eight woman get breast cancer, and up to 40 percent of those diagnosed with breast cancer will ultimately metastasize, why are we metsters only getting one percent of the funding available for cancer research?” asks Colleen Hofmeister. “We should be getting a much bigger piece of the financial pie of fund raising and research.  If cancer is divided into four stages, and breast cancer gets a whole month of recognition, shouldn’t Stage IV be given a week?”
To support the resolution, ask your congresspeople to cosponsor the resolution (S. Res. 295. I or House Resolution 787). Find contact info for your elected officials—and their names—here.
