Pet a Dog

If you see a dog wearing a “pet me” vest at Los Angeles International Airport, do yourself a favor and give the pooch a belly scratch. The dogs are part of the organization Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUPs), which uses dogs to take some of the tension out of travel. Similar programs have been launched at airports in Miami and San Jose.

Smooching releases chemicals that make you calm, scientists have found. In an experiment, pairs who kissed for 15 minutes experienced lower levels of cortisol, a chemical associated with stress.
