Need a Health Boost? Have More Sex!

Survey finds most women know sex is good for their health, but they’re still not getting a lot of it.

Fighting to feel less stressed? Who isn’t? Trying to stay healthy? Of course. Want to look younger and hotter? Well, duh.

So how do you get there? More, sex, silly.

HealthyWomen, a nonprofit health information source for women, reports that experts say a healthy sex life has been shown to improve all those things and more. So why aren’t you getting more action?

A recent survey by the group finds that while 51 percent of the women asked say they think having sex a couple of times a week is “sexually healthy,” just 30 percent are doing it that often, and 66 percent say they have sex only once a week or less.

“While pleasure and intimacy with your partner should be the primary drivers to have sex, the health and wellness benefits are a big bonus,” Dr. Naomi Greenblatt, a psychiatrist specializing in women’s health, tells HealthyWomen.

Still not convinced? HealthyWomen adds that a sexual session can blast 85 to 250 calories and tone muscles in a (hopefully not too) short time period. Sure beats sweating on the StairMaster, doesn’t it?
