Need to do something about that high blood pressure? Have some chocolate.
NPR reports a new study review out of the U.K. finds when volunteers ate a bit of dark chocolate or cocoa powder daily, they experienced a small decrease in blood pressure.
Now this doesn’t mean you can replace your medication with a Hershey bar, but a sweet treat—a square, not the whole huge bar—may “complement other treatment options and might contribute to reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease,” Karin Ried, a researcher from Australia’s National Institute of Integrative Medicine and the University of Adelaide, tells the broadcaster.
We’d like a prescription for chocolate, please.
