We’re super psyched to see the upcoming film The Butler, about the life of Eugene Allen, a butler who worked for eight presidents in the White House. And one big reason is to see Jane Fonda as Nancy Reagan.
Hello, casting geniuses!
Anyway, we got a sneak peek of Fonda as Reagan from Oprah Winfrey’s Twitter account, where she posted this photo of herself (she plays Allen’s wife) with Fonda, director Lee Daniels and Alan Rickman as Ronnie. (Forest Whitaker plays Allen.) Tell us the resemblance is not striking.
“It really is a look into the life and times of this butler who was in the White House for eight presidents, and it’s about looking at the historical happenings during that time, the civil rights movement, the Freedom Riders, the life of so many people who contributed to the possibility of me being able to sit in this chair today,” Winfrey told Good Morning America.
The downer? The movie won’t hit screens until next year. Is it too early to campaign for Fonda for Best Supporting Actress?
