Faced with the slump in consumer spending on fine jewelry, Jude Steele and Frances Gadbois, the creative duo behind the upscale line JudeFrances, decided to expand into fabulous faux. With longtime friend Debbie Millar, the designers started Bamboo Pink, which combines affordability and quality—the pieces are manufactured in the same facility as their high-end stuff. These are wearable classics for every day; think bangles, necklaces with interchangeable pendants and charms, and the ring at left ($89). The sales style marries old school with new: The pieces are available online (at bamboopink.com), but most customers buy at parties hosted by a team of mompreneurs looking to build a little income. All together now—socialize as you accessorize!
