Post-Workout Hacks: Freshen Up After A Midday Sweat Session

Let's be real: The main reasons we avoid working out are because we did our hair this morning or aren't a fan of 8 a.m. showers. Lucky for you, we've done the legwork and found simple and quick ways to freshen up, which basically leaves zero excuses to skip a workout!

Wear Breathable Fabrics

The key to achieving post-workout freshness begins with what you wear while working out. Breathable fabrics that wick away water, like Nike Dri-Fit and Champion Double Dry, are great options to keep you cool and dry during your workout.

Use a Fabric Hair Tie

Pull your hair back into a high bun or pony to keep it off your neck, which will help you stay cool and keep your hair from getting sweaty. Use a fabric hair tie to avoid kinks and creases.

Bring a Towel

Avoid touching your face during and after working out, as the sweat and bacteria from your hands can clog pores and cause breakouts. Instead, bring a towel to blot away sweat.

Sweat-Proof Deodorant

Deodorant is essential to smelling fresh after a workout. Some deodorants, like Crystal Body Deodorant Stick, are strong enough to last through a workout. Dove's Go Fresh is another favorite for its refreshing smell and staying power but might need to be reapplied post-workout for optimal strength. If you're still sweating, swipe a bit of deodorant anywhere you have glands.

Dry Shampoo

Even if you wore your hair up during your workout, it's nearly impossible to stay dry. Blow-dry your hairline and the nape of your neck with hot air to wick away the moisture. Next, spray dry shampoo in short bursts on the roots and problem areas—but be careful not to apply too much!—and finger-comb through, fluffing out the excess. Finish by taming your tresses with a light argan oil, like this one by Josie Maran.

Use a facial wipe to cleanse your face before reapplying makeup. These wipes typically don't require water and can dually be used as quick body cleansers.

Pack a Quick-Fix Makeup Bag

Keep a makeup bag stocked with an eyelash curler, mascara, mineral powder, concealer and a brow pencil at work. After cleansing your face, apply a light concealer under eyes and over problem areas. Next, press on a mineral powder to counteract the redness from working out. Curl your lashes and apply a coat or two of mascara, and fix your brows where you've sweated them off. Avoid applying too much color to the face as you'll be naturally flushed.

Spritz On a Body Spray

Lightly spritz on a body spray or dab on an essential oil in a fresh scent. Try lavender for a calming effect. You'll return to your day smelling fresh and feeling relaxed.
