I am 35 years old and have 3 children and one due in less than a week, my two older ones are thirteen and fifteen, my third is two and half. He was a true gift because I was not supposed to have anymore. He was born with a congenital cataract which I found isn’t that rare, but definitely scary which scared me when I found out I was pregnant again. I have since my youngest son put my faith in God and can only pray he will take care of her the way he did my son, I truly feel blessed. My son by the time he was 9 months old had four eye surgeries, and no inner lens, he wears a contact to take the place of this due to he developed Glaucoma after the surgeries.
I feel that more parents or should I say more women should have themselves tested for toxoplasmosis before trying to become pregnant, normally it is rare but the chance is there. You can get it from under cooked meat and the most known is cats not just from the litter but the dust, it is just a quick blood test and it’s over. Not that I would change anything except to give my son the gift of sight, I’m sure in the future they will be able to offer an implant I keep it in my prayers. I felt compelled to share my short story so that you to could be aware of the dangers because in addition to causing eye problems it can also cause brain damage, most women have already been exposed to it and have already got the antibodies in their bodies so no worries, but do get the test, thank you for listening.
