Steak, chicken, pork chops, oh my! With state-fair season in full swing, dieters can go ahead and order that meat on a stick. Low-carb diets are back.

USA Today reports a new analysis of 17 studies of obese patients put on Atkins-like diet plans shows participants lost an average of almost 18 pounds in six to 12 months. Many also improved blood pressure, HDL cholesterol levels (the good kind) and waist measurements.
