Wednesdays With My Daughters

A mom reflects on her two daughters and the day one of them was diagnosed with autism.

My daughters are teenagers now. I’m so proud and so impressed by their accomplishments but also acknowledge mistakes that have been made. Luckily, it’s only Wednesday and there’s still time to accomplish so much more.

Theresa is in eighth grade. She has friends, a love of film, all things Disney, history, music and, go figure, she loves to fly to far away places.

I take out the powder-blue pajamas from time to time. They are a touchstone for me and bring me such joy.  They remind me where Theresa came from and that she is still my bluebird.
