Does your ability to remember things seem to get worse as you get older? Go lie down and rest. Seriously. Your memory may depend on it.
Time reports that a recent study says taking a quick break can help you retain new information. In the study, out of the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, elderly people did better on memory tests after they had rested for 10 minutes with their eyes closed in a dark room.
“In this day and age of information overload, there are few opportunities to sit back and rest,” Michaela Dewar, an author of the study, says in the report, according to the magazine.
We’ll try to remember that.
