Got Mobile Game? Guys Spend More on Virtual Shopping

Turns out men buy way more virtual stuff than women do.

The next time your significant other complains when you tell him it’s time for a trip to the mall, just roll your eyes and tell him he can bring his phone.

See, dudes may not love physically combing through the racks, but let 'em buy stuff in a virtual store, and they’ll pretty much shop till they drop—or at least until their battery goes dead.

Innovation blog VentureBeat reports that a survey by MocoSpace, a mobile social network, found that while men and women are pretty evenly matched when it comes to playing social games—and spend about the same amount of time playing them—69 percent of guys buy virtual goods, while just 31 percent of women do. And a whopping 90 percent of virtual goods bought inside mobile social games are purchased by men, VentureBeat adds.

We say, well, duh. Women know that money is much better spent on real-life Jimmy Choos. Fighting for the last pair during the end-of-season clearance sales? Game on.
